WOODLAWN, ST GEORGE'S HILL, WEYBRIDGE, SURREY

A large house on one of the larger sites on the St George’s Hill Estate – part of it designated as Green Belt on which no formal building is allowed.  The main three-storey formal block of the house stretches across the width of the site.  A service court to one side, with five garages and two staff flats, connects to a pool and leisure suite extending down the garden.

Inside is a magnificent three-storey entrance-cum-stair hall leading to formal dining room, drawing room, library and study.  There is a large informal kitchen/family room and sunroom opening onto the garden and in the garden wing a cinema room, gym and pool.  On the first floor are a spacious master bedroom suite and 5 further bedrooms.  In the attic are two further guest or children's rooms and a large attic playroom.  The house is finished in white painted render.  The pool is entirely glazed on two sides with a copper clad roof.

Julian Bicknell & Associates is a London based architectural practice of thirty years standing, specialising in quality buildings, interiors and landscapes - mainly in classical or traditional style. The practice has worked for private clients and developers all over the UK and in Japan, Russia, the USA, Morocco, Germany and Kazakhstan. The work includes spacious country houses, luxury homes on the prestige estates at Wentworth and St. Georges Hill, museums, restaurants, theatres, schools, a golf club and modifications to important historic buildings. The design philosophy combines a deep sympathy for traditional design and building methods, with a full understanding of energy strategies and construction management. The practice works closely with other professionals and experienced craftsmen to achieve low-energy buildings of real quality within predetermined budgets.
